Buena Vista Trail Workday: Great news! STBVF is having a trail give-back day in the Buena Vista this coming Saturday, June 13th at 7:00 a.m.. Yep, this coming Saturday is your opportunity to give back to the trail system where you love to ride that mountain bike of yours. We won't be having a group ride Saturday morning. Instead we'll be giving back to Walter and the Buena!

Our target work area will be lower Differential, which must be re-routed in order to avoid an area of archeological sensitivity where the existing trail currently lies. In order to create this re-route, we need to bust through an area thickly covered by manzanita and create a trail though some rocky sections of sandstone. We need a younger and stronger crowd to do this, so we really need our mountain bike community to show up this weekend in a big way!

What do you need to bring? Well, wear long pants, first and foremost. The manzanitas we are blasting through and removing can do a number on your legs if they aren't covered up. Bring plenty of water, sun creen, and an attitude of perseverance. We'll have a lot of tools borrowed from the TRACKS tool trailer on site for you to use, so you really don't need to bring any tools . . . unless you have personal favorites at home you like to use for trail building purposes.

Meet at the Buena Vista trailhead about two miles south of Show Low off U.S. 60 at 7:00 a.m. If you want, bring your mountain bike. You can ride your bike up to the work site if you want! Those not wanting to ride out can carpool in higher clearance vehicles to the work area following Steve Dobbs, who will have his pickup with tools in the back of it. We will be parking cars in a strategic location that easily accesses the work site. We don't expect to work much more than 3-4 hours at most as we want to close up work before it really heats up.

See you Saturday morning at Buena!
