Saturday Ride BV 8:00 a.m./STBVF Board Meeting/2nd Gen Jerseys

Saturday Ride, 8:00 a.m., Buena Vista: Hey everyone! Were we ever blessed with a great morning to ride our bikes last Saturday! We caught the very best part of the day with sunshine and temperatures in the 60's during our ride. And then, an hour later? Yeah, the temperature crashed, it got windy, and it rained. Well. Now sometimes the bike gods smile, and sometimes they don't. But somebody did something right for us to get a reward like that. Weren't there? You should have been!

And speaking of rewards . . . did you know that the old Petrified trail isn't named because somebody got scared? Well, we could understand if you did think so given that part of the trail that offers some pretty sudden exposure to heights. But no, that's not it at all. Petrified is actually littered with petrified wood if you know where to go looking. Last weekend our group examined a little stash of it. Really interesting to think about when that area was a lowland swamp!

If you go hunting, please leave this stuff out there for others to enjoy. We want things like this left alone so that future generations can enjoy finding treasures like this as well!

So what about this weekend? Another great group ride in the Buena is on tap for Saturday, May 10. Meet at 8:00 a.m. ready to ride at the Buena Vista trailhead south of Show Low on highway 60. It is really going to warm up this weekend, so make sure to pack plenty of water. As usual, the ride will run anywhere between twelve and fifteen miles at a nice and friendly social pace. It's a no-drop ride, so come on out and join us!
