Saturday Ride: Hey Everyone! Well, are you ready for your first ride in the now officially recognized Buena Vista Trail system? Yep, Saturday is the day, the very first time your tires will touch what are "officially" part of the White Mountain Trail System. Has anything changed that much yet? Nope, other than you'll notice white diamonds are in the process of being hung all over the formerly "secret" trails. We might have hoped to have a little preview this weekend of a new trail, but the weather on Monday prevented the TRACKS trail crew from doing any work that day. That's OK, everyone knows we needed the moisture which was very welcome.

Anyway . . . meet Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. at the Buena Vista trailhead ready to ride. That's about two miles south of Show. We'll be doing a 12-15 mile ride out there that is ideal for intermediate mountain bikers. The ride should be complete a little after 9:30 a.m. or thereabouts. Our group rides are always a moderate paced "no-drop" ride where we don't leave anyone behind. Come on out and join us as the fruits of our work for the last ten years starts to become a reality!
Sunday Trail Work: Speaking of the aforementioned work needing to be done . . . we are going to have a work session Sunday morning for anyone willing to come out on and join us. We are going to be working on Petrified Sunday morning starting at 7:00 a.m. Yeah, we want to get out there and get in a few hours work before it gets hot and we need to call it quits. Meet at the Wagon Wheel Road trailhead. We'll hike down to what is the southern end of Petrified and start by building an appropriate intersection for the southernmost intersection of Uncle Tom's (now officially the Buena Vista Trail) and the new Petrified. When we get done with that, will head on down the trail to make it look a lot more official than it does now by removing some vegetation from the trail along the way and creating some deeper bench cuts and berms in a few spots as the soil allows.
What do you need to bring? Well, a good stiff garden rake if you have one, a McLeod if you have one (or equivalent Rouge hoe). Trimmers would l be nice to have as well to cut back vegetation (either hand held trimmers or a lopper). I'll have a few extra tools I'll be bringing along for folks to use, though we won't have the TRACKS trailer with us. Bring water too!!!! The Saturday work session is not nearly as formal as a regular TRACKS work day on Mondays, but you'll still need to have a helmet, so bring your bike helmet along!
