Saturday BV Ride/Need TOWM Volunteers/BV News

TOWM Volunteers Needed: Hey everyone! As you all may know the annual Tour of the White Mountains is coming up on Saturday, October 5th! According to Nate Kear, who is organizing the volunteer force for the event, there are still 5 or 6 open spots for volunteers to guide the riders at critical turns and road crossings out in the forest. There are also open spots at the venue to help with the kids ride. The kids ride a great opportunity for anyone without a lot of time to donate on race day - it’s less than an hour long!.

The link to the signup page to volunteer can be found here:

Buena Vista News: We have been advised by the USFS that the mini-NEPA scheduled to begin on October 16, 2024 has been moved back one month to November due to a staffing issue. In the greater scope of things, a month delay is not a bad news. We do hope to be able to get approval prior to the spring!

One other thing . . . remember Wilma who used to live on Sierra Game Trail (SGT) until a couple of years ago?

Well . . . after a two year absence, she has been returned to the Buena! Thank you so much to whomever returned her! And thanks to Jane Powers for spotting this and letting us know on September 4th! Right now Wilma is in the exchange area, but she will be recovered, restored, and returned to the trails we have left. We will do this to save her from development. She will also be given a heart (which Patty Petric has already made, thank you Patty!). We welcome Wilma back into the fold where she can resume her duties in blessing our hikers, bikers, and equestrians!

Buena Vista Ride Saturday Morning: This weeks group ride MTB ride will be back at home in the Buena Vista area! Meet at the BV trailhead about two miles south of Show Low off of Highway 60. Look for the sign pointing you to Trail #637! Be there at 7:00 a.m. ready to ride!

The ride will be 12-15 miles long and should take between 2 and 2.5 hours, depending on the route and the mood of the group. This will be a no-drop and friendly paced ride! Intermediate MTB skills are recommended,.
