Keep the Faith/Saturday Ride

Saturday Ride: Is the monsoon gone? We'll see, but it sure feels like it the last couple of days. And no rain in the forecast through the weekend. I think we may be entering what are really the best eight weeks of riding in in the White Mountains . . . September and October. More moderate temperatures, drier conditions, fall colors. It's all coming and coming soon. Fall is so awesome in the White Mountains and we are lucky to experience it.

After the rain out at Buena last Saturday we had a great ride out in Snowflake led by Rick Brimhall and Brandon Hatch (the trailmasters), who gave us the "grant tour" of the Vortex and the Taylor trails both. A good kick-butt ride. More technical than we usually ride and we even got some bonus miles in!

Do you know where the trail fairies live in the BV? This is a secret.

This week our ride will be in the Buena Vista for sure. Meet at the Buena Vista trailhead at 7:00 a.m. 12-15 mile ride, intermediate MTB skills recommended. Friendly moderate paced "no-drop" ride. So come on out and join in the fun. We should be finished by 9:00 a.m. or a little bit after. We love new people on our rides! If you've been hesitating to join in now's a great time to join in the fun.

Keeping the Faith: In the ongoing effort to get the social trails in the Buena Vista recognized and expanded upon we received some news this week. Our main contact person with Logan Simpson advises that the USFS archaeologist is going into the field to look at a couple of sites of interest by the end of this week. Once Logan Simpson receives the comments of the USFS archeologist they will be making any needed revisions to the report. At that point the report will be sent to the State Historic Preservation Office and tribal governments for comments. So things keep moving . . . just behind the scenes. Keep the faith.
