Halloween Ride Announcement/TOWM Weekend

2024 Halloween Ride: Mark your calendars! The beginning of October means that plans are underway for this year's Halloween night ride which will take place on Thursday, October 31. This year's ride will be featuring a new route due to the closure of Roughneck. The route will take us down B'Backs, Uncle Tom's, up Dome Rock, to Grindstone, up and over Trailfairies and back to the trailhead. All in all, the ride will run about four to five miles in length.

A new zombie waits at the top of

Trailfairies looking for a few brains

to eat.

This is a fun ride every single year and we try to keep the pace slow and steady so that we can enjoy the decorations and so the ride can be enjoyed by any younger gouls and goblins that may choose to join us. The ride is designed to be kid-friendly! Costumes are certainly welcome for this ride, just be careful to avoid costumes that dangle and could get caught up in bike chains or masks that impair vision too much.

In addition to the new route this year, we also have a number of new decorations going up this year. Trail decoration started a couple of days ago and, with any luck, should be mostly completed this weekend. Halloween candy will be available for those who survive the ride and we will have glowstick necklaces to hand out as usual before the ride.

We'll meet for the Halloween ride at 6:00 p.m. at the Wagon Wheel trailhead on Halloween night. More information will follow as we get closer to the big day.

TOWM Weekend: The big news this weekend in our mountain bike world is, or course, the Tour of the White Mountains. Because of that event, there is no group ride scheduled on Saturday as a lot of people will be busy either riding in the event or volunteering to help it go off.

Our locals checked out the goods at Los Burros

on last Saturday's group ride. The TRACKS crew

has the trail riding wonderfully for race weekend!

Kudos to TRACKS!

Although online registration for the event has closed, you can still sign up on-site on Friday, October 4th. There are lengths available ranging from a 50-mile ride all the way down to a 9 mile ride. There is even a kids ride! For information, please see: https://epicrides.com/events/tour/event-guide/

For those racing this weekend . . . may the odds be forever in your favor!
