STBVF Board Meeting/Saturday Group Ride
Saturday Ride:
Thought we might start by getting your attention with this picture:
Jay Reagan gets some big air on Murder Hornet, May 2nd, 2024
Isn't it great seeing our local talent killing it in the Secret Trails? No, we don't plan on a fully sending it like this on Saturday. But it does inspire you to want to do great things, yes? The cool thing is that everyone's "great thing" looks a little different. It may be putting air in those tires and finally throwing your leg over the bike again and just riding around the block. Or it may be riding some gravel. Or maybe motivating to get up and join us for a group ride.
Which we are doing Saturday! Meet Saturday morning at the Buena Vista trailhead off of U.S. 60! Please note: In anticipation of summer, we are moving the ride time back to 7:00 a.m. A 12-15 mile ride is planned with the exact route to be determined on game day. It will be a friendly and social-paced ride and should wrap up about 9-9:30 a.m. We have never dropped anyone on one of our rides and never will, so don't be afraid to join the fun. It should be a nice comfy 55 degrees at ride time. No excuses not to get up, get your ride in, and that get back home to go about your weekend chores.
Trail Approval Process: Hope you are having a great week! The NEPA clearance process for the new Buena Vista trail system continues! One of the things that hasn't been shared in this space before is the map of the revised PACE-IT trail proposal submitted by STBVF that is being reviewed. Here it is, on a map that, you will note, was created by the USFS:
The established and future trails are in yellow on this map, which Buena Vista proper in a deep purple color. Murder Hornet is in pink. The cross hatched section is the land exchange area that is now in private hands.. The Petrified Trail, the upper part of which we are retaining, intrudes into that area, and the section circled in blue. If you know where the old log roll on Petrified has been forever, basically just east 30 feet or so past that is where private lands begin and where the re-route for the trail begins. This is the formal proposal that the USFS is evaluating.
